A New Sandbox!

A New Sandbox!

In June, Dad built a sand box with the boys. They bought the wood and the sand and went to work. They measured the wood and nailed it together. They put weed paper on the bottom and then poured the sand into the box. Then the toys came out. George went to the garage to get shovels and trucks. Henry followed and helped him carry the toys. Once they got back they piled all the toys in and played. They had a ball! When it was time for dinner they were covered with sand and tired. I asked Lydia, George and Henry what they thought:IMG_1972

Video Montage Houston, first three months

Video Montage Houston, first three months

Here’s a fun montage showing some fun clips from our first three months in Houston. The rain here is a lot of run because it’s warm. The kids love to run and get soaked. There is also some interesting wildlife here, like Armadillos.

This video plays fine in Chrome and Firefox. I couldn’t make it play in Internet Explorer (IE), but you shouldn’t be using IE anyway.

Downtown Houston aquarium

Downtown Houston aquarium

One Saturday when I had some work I had to get done, brave Rachel took the kids to the downtown Houston Aquarium. There were fun rides, including a train ride where the kids heard about a shark the aquarium had years ago that was never seen after a major flood and storm. Just at the peak of the story, water sprayed all over them and a shark jumped out of the wall (think Lagoon haunted house rides).

Houston Symphony outdoor concert (Disney)

Houston Symphony outdoor concert (Disney)

The Houston Symphony performs at various outdoor locations, like a recent Disney concert we attended in the Woodlands which is about 30 minutes away from where we live. We set a blanket out on a grassy hill looking down on the stage and tent covered seating. The performance went into the night, but unlike Utah or Idaho, the temperature didn’t drop. When we left near 10:00pm, it was still in the high 80s.

George’s first day of school cookie

George’s first day of school cookie

Rachel has a tradition of making the kids a HUGE cookie on their first day of all-day school. The girls had to wait until first grade, but since George is in all-day kindergarten (that’s all they have in Texas), he got his this year.
